As a San Francisco-based Indian wedding photographer, I've had the pleasure of capturing many beautiful weddings over the years. One of my recent favorites was a Tamil Brahmin & telugu fusion wedding that took place at the Santa Clara Marriott. From the colorful decor to the joyful celebrations, Swathi & Ashhrith's wedding was a truly magical event to photograph. In this blog post, I'll share some of my favorite photos from the day and provide some insights into what makes Tamil Brahmin weddings so special.
The Santa Clara Marriott provided the perfect backdrop for this Tamil Brahmin wedding. The luxurious venue was adorned with stunning floral arrangements and intricate decor, which added to the overall grandeur of the event. From the moment I arrived, I knew that this wedding was going to be a feast for the eyes.
One of the highlights of this Tamil Brahmin wedding was the Sangeet ceremony that took place the night before the wedding. The bride and groom's families came together for a night of music and dance, which provided a wonderful opportunity to capture candid moments of joy and celebration.
The wedding day started early with the Ashhrith's Kashi Yatra, a traditional Tamil Brahmin ritual where the groom pretends to leave for Kashi (a holy city) and the bride's brother convinces him to marry his sister instead. This was followed by the Muhurtham, the main wedding ceremony. The bride and groom took their vows in front of a beautiful floral mandap, surrounded by their loved ones.
One of the most special moments of the wedding was the tying of the thali, a sacred yellow thread that symbolizes the bond between the bride and groom. This is a key ritual in Tamil Brahmin weddings and is a moment of great significance for the couple and their families.
